Morning After Pill

We offer the morning-after pill at our pharmacy. Speak to a member of our pharmacy team to find out more.

Morning-after pill

The morning-after pill, also known as the emergency hormonal contraceptive pill, can help prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. It is most effective when taken as soon as possible after intercourse.

If you require emergency contraception, one of our pharmacists will carry out a brief and confidential assessment. You’ll be asked to complete a short questionnaire to ensure the treatment is safe and suitable for you.
No appointment is necessary — just speak to a member of our pharmacy team in confidence.

Emergency Contraceptive Options

In the UK, there are two types of emergency hormonal contraceptive (EHC) pills available without a prescription and both are available as a single dose tablet.

Both medications are most effective the sooner they are taken, so we recommend seeking advice as quickly as possible after unprotected intercourse. Our pharmacist will help determine which option is most suitable for you during a short, confidential consultation.

Accessing the Morning-After Pill

Our pharmacist will advise you on which emergency contraceptive pill is most suitable for you during a short, confidential consultation. Please note that the morning-after pill is intended for occasional emergency use only, and should not be used as a regular method of contraception. If you require the morning-after pill, please speak to a member of our pharmacy team or You can book an appointment.

Or give us a call on 01302 855448 or visit Warmsworth Road Pharmacy.

You will have short consultation with the Pharmacist in a private consultation room. If the treatment is suitable, the pill will be supplied. If not, the pharmacist will advise you on the most appropriate next steps or refer you to another service.

The morning-after pill is available free of charge through the NHS as part of a funded service.
