Find out more about Orlistat Capsules - Weight Loss Service

Orlistat 120mg Capsules (generic) are used for weight loss. You are required to complete an online consultation. Your suitability will be reviewed based on your BMI and past medical history.

Orlistat is a prescription weight loss medication that helps people with a BMI over 30, or over 28 with weight-related conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes, lose weight. It works by preventing the absorption of some dietary fat, rather than burning existing fat or suppressing appetite.

Those with a BMI of over 30 or over 28 with existing weight-related conditions such as diabetes, blood pressure and heart problems. The orlistat 120mg is a prescription-only medicine, you will need to have an assessment to check your suitability before this medicine can be prescribed for you.

Yes, Orlistat is approved for weight loss in the UK.

While not everyone experiences side effects with Orlistat, some people may notice changes in their bowel habits, such as increased wind, oily spotting, or loose stools. These effects are generally mild and temporary, improving as your body gets used to the medication. Refer to the Patient Information Leaflet for the full list of side effects.

Take one orlistat capsule with water before, during, or up to an hour after each main meal that contains fat (maximum 3 capsules daily). Skip the capsule if you miss a meal or eat a fat-free meal.

Orlistat is the generic medicine name whereas Alli and Xenical are branded versions of Orlistat. The active ingredient, Orlistat, is the same in all three medicines.

Orlistat helps you lose weight by preventing your body from absorbing about a third of the fat you eat. It works by blocking the enzyme that breaks down fat so that fat passes out of your body as stools. Orlistat works if it is used with meals that contain fat.

You can find out more by reading the Patient Information Leaflet.

Find out more about Foundayo® Tablets - Weight Loss Service

Foundayo® Tablets (orforglipron) are used for weight loss. You are required to complete an online consultation. Your suitability will be reviewed based on your BMI and past medical history.

Foundayo® (orforglipron) is a once-daily prescription weight loss tablet developed by Eli Lilly. It is the first oral small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist and was approved in the UK in 2026 for weight management. It helps reduce appetite and helps you feel fuller for longer, supporting weight loss alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

Adults with a BMI of over 30, or over 28 with existing weight-related conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure or heart problems. Foundayo® is a prescription-only medicine, so you will need to complete an assessment to check your suitability.

Yes. Foundayo® (orforglipron) was approved by the UK medicines regulator (MHRA) in 2026 for weight management — the UK was the first country in Europe to approve it.

As with other GLP-1 medicines, the most common side effects are digestive — nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhoea — particularly when starting treatment or increasing the dose. These are usually mild to moderate and tend to settle over time. Our pharmacist will discuss possible side effects with you.

Foundayo® is taken as one tablet once a day. It can be taken at any time of day, with or without food and water. Your dose will be increased gradually according to your treatment plan.

Foundayo® offers GLP-1 weight loss support in a convenient daily tablet rather than an injection. Unlike Wegovy® or Mounjaro® pens, there are no needles — making it a good option if you would prefer not to inject.

Orforglipron mimics the natural hormone GLP-1, which helps regulate appetite. By activating GLP-1 receptors it reduces hunger and helps you feel full sooner, supporting meaningful weight loss when combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise.

You can find out more by reading the Patient Information Leaflet supplied with your medicine, or by speaking to our pharmacy team.

Find out more about Wegovy® Tablets - Weight Loss Service

Wegovy® Tablets (semaglutide) are used for weight loss. You are required to complete an online consultation. Your suitability will be reviewed based on your BMI and past medical history.

Wegovy® Tablets contain semaglutide, the same active ingredient as the well-known Wegovy® injection, in a once-daily oral tablet. Approved in the UK in 2026, it was the first daily GLP-1 weight-loss pill — an effective needle-free option for weight management alongside diet and lifestyle changes.

Adults with a BMI of over 30, or over 28 with existing weight-related conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure or heart problems. Wegovy® Tablets are a prescription-only medicine, so you will need to complete an assessment to check your suitability.

Yes. Wegovy® Tablets (oral semaglutide) were approved in the UK in 2026 as the first once-daily GLP-1 tablet for weight management.

The most common side effects are digestive — nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or constipation — especially when starting treatment or moving up a dose. These are usually mild to moderate and improve with time. Our pharmacist will discuss possible side effects with you.

Take one tablet once daily on an empty stomach when you first wake up, with a small sip of water, and wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other oral medicines. This helps the medicine absorb properly.

Both contain semaglutide. The tablet is a needle-free option taken once a day, while the pen is injected once a week — our pharmacist can help you decide which option suits you best.

Semaglutide mimics the natural hormone GLP-1, which helps regulate appetite. It reduces hunger and helps you feel fuller for longer, leading to reduced calorie intake and sustained weight loss alongside diet and lifestyle changes.

You can find out more by reading the Patient Information Leaflet supplied with your medicine, or by speaking to our pharmacy team.
